At Linesight, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture, in which diversity is acknowledged and valued. Each year, we mark International Women’s Day (IWD), seeing it as an opportunity to renew our focus and restate our commitment to nurturing an inclusive environment, in which gender parity and equality can occur. While the proportion of team members within Linesight who identify as female stands at double the construction industry average, there is more work to do in that regard and we continue to make marked progress.
The theme of this year’s IWD is #ChooseToChallenge – encouraging us all to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements,
One of the ways in which we mark International Women’s Day is by asking our team to share their thoughts on what the theme for the year’s International Women’s Day means to them – below are just a few of those comments shared by our global team:
“For me, IWD is about gender parity – treating all we encounter equally, with fairness and respect in every aspect of our daily lives. While we as an industry are making constant progress in bringing this to fruition, we have a way to go yet, and I #ChooseToChallenge instances where I feel this isn’t happening in any of my day-to-day interactions. At Linesight, although there is still work to be done, we are committed to facilitating every voice in our global team to be respected and heard, embracing varying perspectives, and championing diversity and inclusion.”
Paul Boylan, Group CEO
“Vice President Kamala Harris asserted her right to speak uninterrupted with the words “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking”. I #choosetochallenge actions where women’s voices are not being respected, and I will always work to ensure women’s voices are heard.”
Christina Matthews, Senior Cost Manager
“#ChoosetoChallenge means supporting the brave and the bold who have suffered in the hands of others in their lives, it also means being an advocate for equality, highlighting gender bias if it takes place and supporting diversity and inclusivity in the face of adversity.”
Fiona D’Arcy, Group CMO
“I #ChooseToChallenge by valuing difference and refusing to live with unacknowledged privilege.”
Holly Clinton, Executive Assistant
“I respect all working women, as well as non-working women, and give equal value to women.”
Darshan Joshi, Country Director – India
“I #ChooseToChallenge complacency and unconscious bias in the pursuit of gender parity. We all have a role to play in keeping it on the agenda and ensuring it is approached in a meaningful way.”
Claire O’Broin, Digital and Content Manager
“#ChooseToChallenge for me is a commitment to make a stand and speak out when I see unfairness towards others. As a parent of two girls, I will continue to make a conscious effort to have conversations about societal bias and norms that are non-inclusive so that they can be advocates for equality and inclusion too.”
Michelle Cooke, Group Sales and Marketing Lead.
