Linesight Director appointed President of the SCSI

Linesight Director, Des O’Broin, was yesterday appointed President of the SCSI, taking over from Colin Bray, who is the CEO of Ordnance Survey Ireland. As a Fellow of the Society, Des has more than 30 years’ experience as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, and more recently, as a Chartered Project Manager. He has a particular focus on education and professional development within the industry, having spent ten years as the QS APC Chair, in addition to three years as the Society’s Chair of the Education Committee.

Des has worked on a range of landmark projects throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe and the Caribbean, including the National Conference Centre (CCD), Vertium, LXV, Spencer Dock, Spencer Place, Montevetro, Central Park, The Guinness Storehouse and the Marriott Hotel in Haiti.

He will be the fifth Linesight team member to serve as President of the SCSI, following the tenures of Brendan O’Mara, Derry Scully, Brendan Sheridan and Ken Cribbin.

Speaking about his appointment, Des said:

“I have been a Chartered Surveyor for just over 30 years, and it is a real honor and privilege to be elected President of the SCSI by the membership. I am a Director in Linesight, where I have spent most of those 30 years, and a lot of those years in the company of four past Presidents. Linesight recognizes the importance of the SCSI’s role in setting and maintaining the highest professional standards, while driving innovative working practices to become early adopters of the latest technology and keeping apace with ongoing advances. I look forward to the year ahead, working with the Board, Council and Executive at 38 Merrion Square.”
