Linesight collaborates on latest Aloft hotel in Blackpitts

Linesight today announced its involvement in the launch of the first Aloft Hotel in the Blackpitts area of Dublin’s Liberties. Pembroke Hospitality signed up global hotel group, Marriott International several years ago for the new development. Its Aloft brand, which targets tech-savvy travelers while offering relatively low room rates, has over 100 hotels worldwide. Marriott International has four other Irish hotels operating under the Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Sheraton and Westin brands.

This much-anticipated hotel is a high-tech, 202-bedroomed space, complete with a spectacular 7th floor panoramic cocktail bar and casual dining area, meeting rooms and an on-site gym. The original Tenters pub on the corner of Blackpitts and Mill Street is currently undergoing a complete fit-out to transform it to a gastro pub, to open in April 2019 as an additional offering for guests and the public. Nearby tourist attractions include St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Teelings Distillery and Guinness Storehouse. Linesight was the Employer’s Representative for the project, and provided the Cost and Project Management services for the construction and turnkey fit-out, including full furniture, fixtures and fittings, and operating supplies and equipment.

Travel research company, STR’s recent hotel report shows occupancy levels in Europe rising by 1.2% to 72.4%, with Dublin’s occupancy levels rising by 0.7% to 83.8% in 2018. It attributes this strong performance to some major events in the capital, including the Six Nations Rugby championships, the St. Patrick’s Festival, and a number of concerts from performers such as Drake, U2, Florence and the Machine and Snow Patrol. In the 11-month period to the end of November 2018, more than 9.8 million people travelled to the Republic, an increase of 6.8% on the same period in 2017. It is also expected that 2,500 hotel rooms will open in Ireland in 2019 and 2020.

“We chose to work with Linesight again on the Aloft Hotel project because of the team’s local market knowledge and their extensive international hotel construction experience. In addition to a number of Irish projects, Linesight is also working with us on other overseas hotel projects with Pembroke Hospitality, having previously collaborated with us on the Marriott hotel in Haiti. They provide Director-level involvement from senior team members from the get-go, which demonstrates to us how committed they are in ensuring that our goals are met. Aloft Blackpitts is a development in an exciting part of Dublin 8, and we are confident that it meets the needs of the growing tourist and local population, looking for a sophisticated, high-tech, affordable hotel in a great location.”

said Niall Geoghegan, Director, Pembroke Hospitality.

“As the Irish economy continues to grow, it is encouraging to see our tourism industry prosper and visitors continue to flood into Irish hotels each year. Linesight has been involved in providing professional Cost and Project Management services to some of the most prestigious hospitality projects for national and international hotel chains globally for many years. At present, we are actively involved in projects all over the world. Aloft is an innovative brand, delivering the latest in technology and services to its expanding client base, and we were honored to have been chosen to work on its latest venture. This was an insightful and interesting project in Blackpitts, where we were able to bring both our local knowledge of the market and our international experience to bear. We hope to work with Aloft and Marriott again on future projects, as they continue to expand their networks.”

said Des O’Broin, Director, Linesight.
