The new Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin opened last Thursday, with Linesight providing Cost Management services on the project. The expansion has seen the bar more than double in size, with more than 600 people working for 16 months and 175,000 man hours to deliver the new panoramic bar.
Linesight also provided Cost Management services on the original Gravity Bar, which opened in 2000 and is one of Ireland's central tourist attractions. The project consisted of the expansion of the gravity bar together with works to the existing Storehouse and the development of a new Hub building. The Gravity bar is now constructed as a figure eight, designed to give visitors maximum views across Dublin’s city skyline.
Speaking about the project, Linesight Director, Stephen Ashe, noted:
“Linesight’s relationship with the Guinness Storehouse and Diageo spans well over 30 years. We provided Cost Management services on the original storehouse and last Thursday, we had the pleasure of attending the launch of the new €20m Gravity Bar. We were delighted to work with the Guinness Storehouse team and the design team on this prestigious project”.
The design team on the project included FESP, RKD Architects, Arup and O’Connor Sutton Cronin.
