We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a high-voltage substation supporting a large-scale data centre development. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the electrical infrastructure works from utility interface and detailed design coordination through installation, energisation and operational handover. This role requires strong leadership, technical electrical expertise and the ability to coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders within a mission-critical environment.
• Lead planning, execution and completion of the substation project including grid connection, transformers, switchgear and associated infrastructure
• Manage the interface between utility provider, client, designers and construction contractors
• Oversee installation of HV and MV equipment including GIS/AIS switchgear, transformers, protection systems, earthing and cable routes
• Coordinate energisation strategy, outage planning and safe switching procedures
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and risk registers
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards, statutory regulations and permit requirements
• Manage subcontractors and specialist vendors ensuring quality and safety standards are achieved
• Lead commissioning activities including testing, protection settings verification and energisation readiness
• Provide regular progress updates and technical reporting to senior stakeholders
• Coordinate with wider campus construction teams to align power availability with data centre programme milestones
• Support change management, commercial reviews and technical decision making
• Ensure complete documentation and handover including as-built drawings, commissioning records and operational procedures
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives, utilities and delivery partners
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience delivering electrical infrastructure or substation projects
• Strong understanding of high-voltage systems, protection, earthing and commissioning processes
• Experience working with utility providers and grid connection processes
• Data centre, industrial power or utility infrastructure project experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Familiarity with construction contracts such as FIDIC, NEC or similar
• Ability to manage complex technical interfaces and resolve project conflicts
• Proficient in project management and reporting tools
• Professional certification (PMP or equivalent) desirable
