Former home of Linesight achieves Practical Completion

As the former home of Linesight (then Bruce Shaw International), the redevelopment of Kestrel House on Clanwilliam Place was a particularly special project for the team. Planning permission was sought and obtained by Bruce Shaw, prior to the sale of the site to Hardwicke and the move to our Hoban House headquarters on Haddington Road in May 2015.

Demolition commenced in August 2015, and Velasco, as the impressive building is now called (after Lady Eleanor Velasco Thornton – muse for the Rolls Royce flying angel emblem), achieved practical completion earlier this week.

Linesight provided full Cost Management services on the project, while concept/planning drawings were prepared by Shay Cleary Architects and detailed design/construction delivery was by RKD Architects.

The building is designed to LEED Gold standard and BER Rating A3. The façade is a focal point of the building, with distinctive two-story high external columns and a unitized double skin system, with an outward opening outer skin, motorized (BMS-controlled) interstitial roller blinds and a fixed internal insulated double glazing unit. Internally the office spaces are bathed in natural daylight and the structural grid of 9 meters by 7.5 meters allows for optimal use of the space. This together with the exceptionally high standard of finishes in the toilets, cores and reception will make Velasco a very pleasant place to work.
